Should Conservatives be Sweating After the Primaries?

March 13, 2018
Although #FakeNews liberal media is predicting Texas might be changing colors from Red to Blue, the primary election results prove that Texans love being Red. A CNN article claimed the 2018 midterms could have some surprises, so democrats are jazzed right now while Republicans are sweating. Wait a minute—who is sweating? I’m not sweating. The primary election results have me jazzed.
LA Times boasted in a headline that “Democrats’ turnout in Texas primary is highest in 16 years.” So? Why does that mean Republicans need to be sweating? All that means is Democrat turnout has been really poor in past years. It does not mean that Democrats outnumbered Republicans this year.
It’s true that there were more early votes from Democrats, as the Secretary of State records show. Since Democrats had us beat by a bit during the early voting period, perhaps that is why news outlets started predicting a blue wave is about to flood Texas.
However, once all the votes were counted after primary election day, far more Republicans came out to vote. About 1.5 million Republicans voted, while about 1 million democrats voted. That means approximately 500,000 more Republicans than Democrats showed up! To me, that sounds like a rush of Red hit the voting booths, not a blue wave!
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is spot on in his news release: “We were assaulted with predictions that our great state is trending Democrat. But the votes have been counted and we know that so-called ‘blue wave’ never made landfall.”
It looks like Texas is staying a beacon of Red. We haven’t had a Democrat in statewide office since 1994, so Democrats have had the longest losing streak in Texas than anywhere else in America. It seems we’ve had a taste of how great it is to be Red, so we won’t be going back to Blue anytime soon.
However, we still need to break a sweat when it comes time to promote and vote. We cannot get cocky, thinking Texas will stay Red automatically. It will stay Red because of us all showing up and doing our part, just like we did with the primaries.
